In the heart of Burundi, nestled within the picturesque Mutimbuzi commune of Bujumbura Rural Province, lies Buhomba – a place of resilience, strength, and unwavering hope. It was here that the Act for Sustainable Development Group (ASDG) embarked on a transformative journey, carrying with it a beacon of light and compassion.
On a bright Saturday morning, September 23, 2023, ASDG set out on a mission that would forever mark the lives of 100 families in Buhomba. Armed with a generous grant from the Ministry of Public Health and the Fight Against AIDS in Burundi, ASDG distributed a hundred mosquito nets to those in dire need.
The distribution was not random; it was a well-thought-out endeavor that placed the welfare of the most vulnerable at the forefront. Priority was given to pregnant women, families with children under 5 years of age, elderly individuals, and those living with disabilities. These nets were not merely an item; they were a shield against a silent menace – malaria.
Many of these families reside in homes with incomplete structures, where mosquitoes find their way with ease. Our research uncovered a startling truth – a significant prevalence of malaria cases in this community. Our determination to protect them was unwavering.
But there’s more to this story than the distribution of mosquito nets. As the warm smiles and heartfelt gratitude of the Buhomba residents enveloped us, they began to share their deeper struggles, their dreams, and their aspirations.

The Challenges They Face
Food scarcity, inadequate clothing, fragile housing structures, lack of clean drinking water, school supplies for their children, and unaffordable healthcare – these are the harsh realities these resilient souls confront daily.
The children yearn for knowledge, yet they lack the necessary school kits to embark on their educational journey. Their parents dream of stronger homes, capable of withstanding the elements. They thirst for clean, safe water, not just for survival but for a better quality of life. Health is a basic human right, but many here lack the means to access medical care.
ASDG: A Beacon of Hope
ASDG, led by the dedicated and compassionate Nijimbere Tychique, Chairman, and CEO, recognizes the urgency of these needs. Our commitment to making a positive change in the lives of these families remains steadfast.
We believe that by addressing these pressing issues, we can help the people of Buhomba regain their footing and build a brighter future.
A Call for Donors
